Chapter 1 deals with two aspects fundamental to the rest of this book. First, every patent tells a story. This section focuses on how exactly a patent tells its story. Highlighted are those sections of a patent which tell the story – no attempt is made to describe every part of a patent, but rather only those parts that tell the story.
Second, a method is described in detail by which a litigation-proof patent may be written. Other people may use other methods, but in my opinion, the method described here is the most effective and efficient way of writing a patent that tells the story and creates maximum value.
